Situated in rural Marion, South Dakota, The Serendipity Shoppe was founded by mother-daughter team Susan Heyer and Jill Freeze. Susan's love of jewelry, fashion, and merchandising combined with Jill's love of shopping and bargains to bring you The Serendipity Shoppe--a store filled with unique items at a great price.

Unlike the typical mall store with multiple identical items in all sizes, we are a bargain lover and treasure hunter's delight. Many of our items are one-of-a-kind pieces from high-end stores at under 50% of the original price, so our regular customers have learned to jump on a deal when they see it, or it might never come their way again.
Some days you may visit us and not find a thing to your liking or in your size. Other days, you may find armloads of goodies. That's why we call it The Serendipity Shoppe--in our little shop, you may very well stumble on to that perfect outfit or piece of jewelry by accident. We're always getting new goodies, too, so things are constantly changing which adds to the fun of shopping at The Serendipity Shoppe.
All of our in-store items are new as purchased from a variety of liquidation/overstocked merchandise sources. We do our best to ensure that each item in the store is in new condition. But when an item fails to meet our standard, it's marked down accordingly so that handy fixer-upper can reel in a tremendous deal.
Stop in and see the wonderful ensembles Susan has put together. From complete outfits with matching purses to scarves with coordinating earrings, there's something for everyone!

Susan (left) and Jill (right)

Susan has a long history in the retail business as a store owner, operator, buyer, and jewelry broker. In addition to designing killer clothing ensembles and window displays, Susan's hobbies include playing with and caring for her large family of cats and surfing the Internet.
In fact, Susan's love of cats is so well known that the first day the store was open, someone brought in an abandoned black and white kitten. He was so tiny that his eyes were still blue and he could barely stand up! Susan (known as "Goose" to her family) patiently bottle-fed and nursed little Serendipity ("Dippy" for short) to feline adulthood. Yes, the cat was named Serendipity after the store because it was, well, serendipity that the little guy found someone to take over where his mommy left off.

Of all things, Jill is actually a computer book and magazine article author by trade. (You can see her books in the Nerd's Nook section of our Boutiques page, or by visiting www.JustPC.com.) In addition to helping with buying, building the Web site, and coordinating online auctions for The Serendipity Shoppe, Jill loves playing with her son (Christopher James) and daughter (Samantha Ashley), volunteering for her children's school, surfing the Net, listening to music, quilting, and writing fiction.
